High School Girls Flag Football Season Launches Nationwide

Laneah Bryan and Ariel Blair from El Paso have been named to the U.S. Women's Flag Football National Team, showcasing the growing talent in women's flag football as it prepares for its Olympic debut in 2028. Bryan, a seasoned player with two gold medals from previous competitions, expressed excitement about continuing her journey in the sport, while Blair celebrated her selection as a dream come true. The initial roster includes 18 athletes, selected from a competitive pool, and they will compete in upcoming international events, including the IFAF Americas Continental Championship and The World Games 2025 in China. USA Football emphasized the high level of competition at trials, which reflects the increasing participation of women in the sport. Additionally, other athletes with local ties were also selected for both the men's and women's national teams, highlighting the national interest in flag football. The sport's recognition and support are evident as various high schools, including those in Pittsburgh, begin to establish girls' flag football programs, aiming to expand opportunities for young female athletes.
