A court in Chandigarh has framed charges against former Haryana minister and BJP leader Sandeep Singh for sexual harassment and assault against a junior athletics coach. The charges include sections 354, 354A, 354B, 506, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code, while a request to add a rape charge was dismissed by the court. Singh's application to dismiss the case was also rejected, with the next hearing set for August 17. The allegations, dating back to December 2022, claim Singh harassed the coach through persistent social media messages and inappropriate physical contact, which he denies, asserting the claims are baseless. The woman alleges that Singh molested her during meetings under the pretext of discussing job-related documents and obstructed her training opportunities. Singh had previously resigned from his sports portfolio amid these allegations.
