Man Killed in Worcester Shooting, Suspect Arrested

Worcester police arrested Antonio Canales-Martinez, 26, in connection with a deadly shooting on Southgate Street that occurred Saturday evening. Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired around 7:40 p.m. and found a male victim lying on the sidewalk, who was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Canales-Martinez faces several charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, aggravated assault and battery with serious bodily injury, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. A firearm was recovered and processed at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. The victim's identity has not been released. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
