Wabtec secures $248 million locomotive order for Guinea's TransGuinéen Railway
Wabtec Corp. has secured a $248 million order from Guinea's Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS) to supply Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives for the TransGuinéen Railway project. This railway will connect the Simandou mountain range's iron ore mine to the Port of Morebaya, representing a significant economic opportunity for Guinea. The locomotives are designed to perform efficiently in high-temperature environments and feature a powerful 4,500 horsepower engine. This order follows a previous one from SimFer, bringing the total value of orders related to this project to over $500 million. Wabtec's commitment includes fostering local employment and developing indigenous talent in the region. Deliveries are expected to commence later this year, with the project aiming to meet high international standards.
