United Airlines Plans New Longest Nonstop Route to Cape Town

This summer, United Airlines will operate 23 daily transatlantic Boeing 757 flights, with its Newark to Stockholm route being the longest at 8 hours and 40 minutes. Despite a 12% decrease in transatlantic 757 flights compared to last summer, United remains the dominant carrier, significantly outpacing competitors like Icelandair and Delta. In addition to its transatlantic routes, United has expanded its long-haul offerings, including new flights to Adelaide and Cape Town. The airline now leads in long-haul flights from the US, overtaking Delta in Europe. Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines has ended its long-running one-stop service to Houston, marking the conclusion of a significant route that connected through Manchester. These shifts in airline operations reflect ongoing adjustments within the aviation industry as carriers adapt to changing travel demand and aircraft efficiency.
