Two Charlotte Men Killed in Lincoln County Head-On Collision
A fatal head-on collision in Lincoln County, North Carolina, early Sunday morning resulted in the deaths of two Charlotte men, Rashann Jakeem Curmon, 32, and Steven J. Sweda, 50. The crash occurred when a 2006 Acura RSX was traveling northbound in the southbound lane on NC 16 near NC 73 and collided with a 2014 Nissan Altima, causing both vehicles to catch fire. A child in the Acura was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated that neither speed nor impairment were factors in the crash, which led to a road closure for about three hours during the investigation. Separately, a similar fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in Lincoln County, South Dakota, involving a head-on collision on Highway 11, which also resulted in two deaths. Both incidents highlight the dangers of head-on collisions, though they are unrelated events in different states.
