X Settles Lawsuit Against Twitch Over Ad Boycott Claims

Elon Musk's social media platform, X, has reached a preliminary agreement to settle its lawsuit against Twitch, which was accused of participating in a boycott that impacted X's advertising revenue following Musk's acquisition of the platform in October 2022. According to a court filing, X and Twitch have signed a 'memorandum of understanding' that will allow the lawsuit to be dismissed if certain conditions are met by the end of 2025. The broader lawsuit includes allegations against multiple companies and the World Federation of Advertisers, which X claims colluded to withdraw advertising and caused significant revenue losses. X previously settled with Unilever, another defendant in the case, which was dismissed after agreeing to brand safety standards. While Twitch was added to the lawsuit in November 2024, it has not yet responded to the accusations made by X. Other companies still named in the lawsuit include CVS, Pinterest, and Colgate-Palmolive.
