Mainland Olympic Tickets in Hong Kong Sell Out

Tickets for the upcoming performances by mainland China's Olympic delegation in Hong Kong sold out rapidly, with all 5,300 tickets gone in approximately 30 to 40 minutes. The events, scheduled from August 29 to 31, include a gala show and sports demonstrations featuring various Olympic sports, attracting tremendous interest with over 37,000 people queuing online for tickets. Originally priced at HK$20, some ticket seekers are now willing to pay up to HK$1,500 on resale platforms. The tickets were sold on a real-name basis, requiring proof of identity for entry, which the Leisure and Cultural Services Department enforced to prevent transfers. The high demand reflects the excitement surrounding the Olympians' visit, as many residents expressed their eagerness to support and engage with the athletes. Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung noted that parts of the events would be broadcasted to allow wider public enjoyment.
