Brian Young Appointed President of Fairfax Insurance

Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited has appointed Brian Young as the new president of Fairfax Insurance Group, effective January 1, 2025, succeeding Andrew Barnard, who has transitioned to the role of chairman. Young has been with Odyssey Group since 1996 and has served as CEO since 2011, during which time the company achieved 13 consecutive years of underwriting profit and nearly tripled in size. Carl Overy has been appointed as the new CEO of Odyssey Group, taking over from Young and overseeing its three platforms: OdysseyRe, Hudson, and Newline. Prem Watsa, chairman and CEO of Fairfax, expressed confidence in both Young and Overy's leadership, emphasizing their extensive experience in the industry. This leadership change comes alongside Fairfax's recent acquisition of full ownership of Brit Limited for approximately $383 million, highlighting the company's ongoing growth strategy. Fairfax continues to engage primarily in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance through its various subsidiaries.
