Rohan Dennis Pleads Guilty in Wife's Death

Former world champion cyclist Rohan Dennis has pleaded guilty to an aggravated charge of creating a likelihood of harm in connection with the December 30, 2023, road death of his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins. Initially charged with dangerous driving causing death, Dennis admitted to the lesser charge in Adelaide's Magistrates Court, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years. His lawyer stated there was no intention to harm Hoskins, and the plea does not hold him responsible for her death. Hoskins sustained serious injuries after being struck by Dennis's car and died shortly after being taken to the hospital. Dennis, who retired from cycling in 2023, will be sentenced on January 24, 2025, and was released on bail following the plea. The couple had been married since 2018 and had two children together.
