Rodriguez Sets Record, Named AVCA Region Player
Lexi Rodriguez, a senior libero at Nebraska and a four-time All-American, has set a new school record for career digs, surpassing the previous mark of 1,890 held by Olympian Justine Wong-Orantes, by reaching 1,897 digs during the NCAA semifinals against Penn State. Despite Nebraska's loss, Rodriguez became the first libero to be named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Region Player of the Year and is a finalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year. Following her collegiate success, she is set to continue her volleyball career with LOVB, joining Wong-Orantes. The semifinal match, attended by 21,726 spectators, marked the largest crowd for an indoor NCAA volleyball game. Rodriguez expressed gratitude and emotion, acknowledging her time at Nebraska as a significant and cherished part of her life.
