Jordanian Armed Forces Lay Fallen Soldiers to Rest
The remains of Korean War soldier Private First Class Arthur A. Clifton were finally laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery after being identified nearly 75 years posthumously. Clifton, who was only 17 when he went missing during the brutal fighting at the Chosin Reservoir in December 1950, was accounted for in August 2024 through DNA analysis. His burial ceremony was attended by his only surviving sibling, Lydia Holland, who expressed relief at finally bringing her brother home, despite not remembering his face after so many years. The ceremony included military honors, such as a 21-gun salute and the presentation of a folded American flag. This event highlights the long-lasting impact of war on families and the ongoing efforts to account for missing service members. Clifton's identification adds to the ongoing recognition of the sacrifices made during the Korean War, where thousands of American soldiers remain unaccounted for.
