Israel Strikes Sanaa After Houthi Drone Attack
Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on Yemen’s rebel-held capital Sanaa on Thursday, with Al Masirah and reporters saying explosions struck southern and western districts. Israel’s defence minister Israel Katz said the IDF hit multiple Houthi military targets, destroyed UAVs and weapons stockpiles and “eliminated dozens” of fighters. Houthi authorities reported at least two civilians killed and about 48 wounded. Israeli officials framed the operation as retaliation for a Houthi-claimed drone attack on the Israeli Red Sea resort of Eilat and as part of more than a year of cross-border attacks tied to the Gaza war spillover. Separately, Slovenia imposed a travel ban on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu citing ongoing proceedings over alleged war crimes and UN findings, and has previously enacted an arms embargo and import bans related to occupied territories.
