Police Submit Evidence File to CPS in Hull Funeral Home Case
Humberside Police have submitted a comprehensive file of evidence, including over 13,000 exhibits, to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) regarding their investigation into Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull. The inquiry, which has been ongoing for ten months, was initiated after concerns were raised about the care of the deceased, leading to the recovery of 35 bodies and suspected human ashes from the funeral home. Assistant Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin confirmed that families of the deceased have been informed about the significant development, and contact has also been made with other affected families. Two individuals remain on conditional police bail following their arrests related to the case. The police have emphasized a sensitive handling of the investigation, recognizing the grief experienced by the bereaved families. The CPS will now consider whether any charges should be brought forth based on the submitted evidence.
