Mr. Burger Founder Peter Christopoulos Dies at 90 in West Michigan
Peter D. Christopoulos, the Greek immigrant and founder of the beloved Mr. Burger chain in West Michigan, passed away peacefully at age 90. He and his wife, Maria, started the first Mr. Burger restaurant in 1967 on Lake Michigan Drive, eventually expanding to eight locations across the Grand Rapids area. The couple built the business on a foundation of quality food, excellent customer service, and a strong work ethic, with their two sons taking over operations in 2023. Peter remained actively involved in the business until his final days, visiting multiple locations to ensure standards were upheld. The family has received an outpouring of support from the community, reflecting the lasting legacy the Christopoulos family has created. Visitation and funeral services are planned at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids.
