Gold Dome Renovation Approved for Concert Venue

Oklahoma City's historic Gold Dome is on the path to transformation into a concert venue following approval for a $3 million loan from the Classen Corridor Revitalization TIF Review Committee. Developer Mike Brown of Kismet Koncerts aims to preserve the building's historical features while renovating it for 2,500 to 3,000 attendees, with a total project cost estimated at $10 million. This redevelopment is seen as a critical effort to save the iconic structure, which has faced several failed attempts at revitalization in the past. If the plan receives approval from the Economic Development Trust and the city council, the venue could host approximately 65 events annually, generating around $1 million in revenue. Renovations are projected to be completed by early 2026, with the city expecting to recoup its investment through shared profits and taxes. Mayor David Holt emphasized the need to save the Gold Dome, marking this proposal as the first financially backed initiative for the space.
