Scott Moe Promises School Change Room Policy

Scott Moe, leader of the Saskatchewan Party, has announced that if re-elected on October 28, his first action will be to implement a directive banning 'biological boys' from using school changing rooms designated for 'biological girls.' This decision follows a complaint regarding a situation at a school in southeast Saskatchewan where biological males changed with girls. Moe stated that while he believes school divisions should already have such policies, a provincial directive would ensure uniformity across all schools. In contrast, NDP Leader Carla Beck criticized this proposal, arguing it would increase vulnerability among already marginalized students. The Saskatchewan Party's previous legislation, requiring parental consent for children under 16 to use different names or pronouns at school, has drawn significant backlash for potentially infringing on Charter rights. Moe's comments on gender have also raised questions, particularly his assertion that he recognizes only two genders from a biological standpoint.
