Kodiak Copper Releases Initial MPD Resource Estimate British Columbia
Kodiak Copper has released the first part of its initial Mineral Resource estimate for the MPD copper-gold project in southern British Columbia, covering four of seven mineralized zones: Gate, Ketchan Man, and Dillard. The indicated resource includes 56.4 million tonnes grading 0.42% copper equivalent, containing 385 million pounds of copper and 250,000 ounces of gold, while the inferred resource estimates 240.7 million tonnes grading 0.33% copper equivalent. Mineralization remains open for expansion, and the full resource estimate, including three additional zones (West, Adit, and South), is planned for completion by the end of 2025. Kodiak's management highlights the project's potential to become a major mine in British Columbia, supported by positive market response with shares rising 4.6% following the announcement. Analysts predict a copper supply shortage by 2027 due to increasing demand from electrification and renewables, positioning MPD's size as a competitive advantage. Despite Kodiak's strong resource potential, financial challenges such as the absence of revenue and consistent losses temper the outlook, though the company's strong equity and zero debt provide some mitigation.
