Will Forte Debuts Salvaged 'Coyote vs Acme' Footage at Comic-Con
The long-delayed live-action/animated hybrid film "Coyote vs. Acme" is set for a global theatrical release on August 28, 2026, after being rescued from cancellation by fan support and a new distributor, Ketchup Entertainment. The movie stars Will Forte as Kevin Avery, a down-on-his-luck attorney who represents Wile E. Coyote in a lawsuit against the Acme Corporation for its defective products, featuring John Cena as the opposing lawyer. The film's first footage, debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, showcased a mix of slapstick and higher-caliber comedy, including courtroom scenes and animated cameos, with a soundtrack featuring Johnny Cash's "Hurt." Originally completed in 2023, the movie was nearly shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery for a tax write-off, similar to other projects, but public backlash and creator efforts secured its release. Forte credited the fans as the real heroes who fought for the film's release, likening their persistence to Wile E. Coyote's never-give-up spirit. The movie is based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article and directed by Dave Green, with a story involving beloved Looney Tunes characters in a unique legal comedy format.
