A tragic road accident near Tiruttani in Tamil Nadu resulted in the deaths of five third-year engineering students from a private college when their Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) collided head-on with a truck on the Chennai-Tirupati National Highway. The victims, aged between 20 and 24, were returning to their hometown of Ongole from Chennai when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Two other students sustained severe injuries and are currently hospitalized. The accident led to a roadblock for over an hour as local authorities worked to retrieve the victims from the overturned MUV. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by police. Eyewitnesses and locals assisted in the rescue efforts following the collision.
