Lauryn Hill Joins Cast of Warriors Album

Lauryn Hill will lend her voice as Cyrus of the Gramercy Riffs in the upcoming concept album 'Warriors,' created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, which is set to be released on October 18. Hill joins a star-studded cast including Busta Rhymes, Marc Anthony, and several Broadway actors. The project reimagines the 1979 cult film 'The Warriors,' with a notable twist—its titular gang will be comprised entirely of women, reflecting a modern take on unity and resilience in New York City. Executive produced by Grammy-winning rapper Nas and produced by Mike Elizondo, the album promises to diverge from the original film while retaining its core themes. The tracklist features a diverse mix of voices, representing various boroughs and characters from the narrative. Miranda emphasizes a dream of unity and peace as central to the album's message, moving beyond a simple gender swap of the original story.
