UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside a Midtown hotel on Wednesday morning in what authorities believe was a targeted attack. The masked assassin was seen on surveillance footage moments before the shooting, appearing calm while seemingly on a phone call. He fired multiple rounds at Thompson, who was shot in the back and leg, and reportedly left cryptic messages inscribed on the bullets, including the words 'deny,' 'depose,' and 'defend.' After the attack, the shooter fled on an e-bike into Central Park, and police have since recovered evidence including bullet casings and a cellphone. Law enforcement officials have launched a manhunt for the suspect, emphasizing that the attack was not random and that Thompson had previously received threats. A reward of $10,000 has been offered for information leading to the capture of the gunman.
