Mia le Roux has been crowned Miss South Africa 2024 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, marking a significant moment for the 28-year-old marketing manager and part-time BCom student from Oudtshoorn. Diagnosed with profound hearing loss at a young age, le Roux aims to use her platform to advocate for inclusion and break barriers for differently-abled individuals. Her win comes after a competitive pageant where she impressed judges with her resilience and authentic representation of her community. Le Roux received a crown named Mowana and a R1 million cash prize, along with a Mercedes Benz and an apartment for her reign. The event, hosted by Bonang Matheba, was attended by notable personalities and concluded with the outgoing Miss SA 2023, Natasha Joubert, passing the crown. Amid the celebration, the pageant faced controversies, including the withdrawal of a contestant due to eligibility concerns.
