Huddersfield Giants Re-sign Halfback Russell on Loan Amid Multiple Injuries

Huddersfield Giants have been hit hard by injuries to their key halfbacks Tui Lolohea, Adam Clune, and loanee Matt Frawley, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury. To bolster their injury-depleted squad, the Giants have re-signed former halfback Oliver Russell on loan from Wakefield Trinity for the remainder of the Super League season. Russell, who previously played over 100 games for Huddersfield before moving to Wakefield this year, has struggled for game time due to a hand injury and a subsequent loan spell at Salford Red Devils. Giants director of rugby Andy Kelly praised the swift facilitation of the loan, crediting club owner Ken Davy for supporting the move to strengthen the team. Head coach Luke Robinson expressed confidence in Russell’s experience benefiting the team, while also preparing to give academy halfback Marshall Land a chance due to limited options. Russell himself expressed excitement about returning to a familiar environment and finishing the season playing rugby.
