Broadway Dims Lights for James Earl Jones

Broadway theaters will dim their lights on September 26 at 6:45 p.m. to honor the late James Earl Jones, who passed away on September 9 at the age of 93. The tribute reflects a longstanding Broadway tradition of honoring influential figures in the theater community. Interim president of the Broadway League, Jason Laks, acknowledged Jones as a 'true pillar' of Broadway, recognizing his significant contributions across various entertainment mediums. Jones received numerous accolades throughout his career, including two Tony Awards and a special lifetime achievement award in 2017. His legacy continues with the Cort Theatre, which was renamed the James Earl Jones Theatre in 2022, marking his impact on the Broadway stage.
