Yvonne Ejim sets Gonzaga scoring record in win over Saint Mary's

Yvonne Ejim made history by becoming the all-time leading scorer in Gonzaga women's basketball during a game against Saint Mary's, surpassing Heather Bowman's long-standing record of 2,165 points. She achieved this milestone with a 14-foot jumper, finishing the game with a total of 27 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Bulldogs to a 69-58 victory, marking their tenth consecutive win. Ejim, who is averaging 21.4 points and 8.8 rebounds this season, has also set program records for field goals and rebounds, and is a strong contender for the WCC Player of the Year. Gonzaga coach Lisa Fortier expressed pride in Ejim's accomplishments, especially considering her own battle with breast cancer over the past year. The Bulldogs have improved significantly after a slow start to the season and are currently leading the WCC in several statistical categories. Ejim’s performance has solidified her legacy, as she is on track to have her jersey retired alongside other Gonzaga legends.
