Parking Charges Rise in Glasgow, Swindon Amid Sustainability Efforts

Parking charges at Pollok Country Park in Glasgow are set to increase by £2 per session, bringing the cost to £7 for four hours and £12 for a full day. This adjustment, expected to take effect by early summer, follows a budget agreement by local councillors aimed at reducing car use and promoting sustainable transport options such as walking, cycling, and public transit. The increase is projected to generate an additional £200,000 in revenue for the council this financial year. Improvements already made in the park include a free electric shuttle bus service and enhanced cycling routes to encourage visitors to use alternative modes of transport. The council's parking strategy is part of a broader effort to shift towards greener travel solutions in the city. Previous parking fees had already risen from £5 for four hours and £10 for a full day in April 2023.
