Harry Potter Stars Emma Watson, Zoe Wanamaker Banned from Driving UK

Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, has been banned from driving for six months following a speeding offense in Oxford where she was caught driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone. This infraction, combined with previous offenses that accumulated nine points on her license, pushed her over the UK's 12-point threshold, resulting in the suspension. Watson was fined approximately £1,044 ($1,400) and did not attend the court hearing, instead submitting a guilty plea digitally. Another Harry Potter alum, Zoe Wanamaker, was also banned for six months for a separate speeding violation. Watson has been focusing on her studies at Oxford University and has stepped back from acting since her last film appearance in 2019. The bans highlight recent legal troubles for former Harry Potter stars amid ongoing franchise developments, including a new HBO series set for 2027.
