Florida Gas Prices Drop 20 Cents Ahead Labor Day Weekend

Florida gas prices have fallen sharply by about 20 cents over the past 10 to 11 days, bringing the average price per gallon down to around $2.92, according to AAA. This decline comes as the unofficial end of the summer travel season nears and is significantly lower than last year's Labor Day average of $3.30 per gallon. Despite the recent drop, AAA cautions that this trend may not hold through the holiday weekend, as prices have historically rebounded by 10 to 20 cents after periods of decline. Oil prices have also decreased compared to last year, with recent closing prices near $63.66 per barrel versus around $70 per barrel previously. Regional price differences persist, with the cheapest gas found in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach and the most expensive in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton and Gainesville. Nationally, prices vary widely, with states like California seeing much higher averages around $4.56 per gallon.
