South Carolina Player Ashlyn Watkins Arrested for Assault

South Carolina women's basketball star Ashlyn Watkins was arrested on Saturday and charged with first-degree assault and kidnapping following an incident at a student housing center. Warrants allege that Watkins forcefully grabbed the victim's face, pulled her arms, pushed her, and carried her against her will, preventing her from leaving. The victim eventually escaped and pulled a fire alarm, leading to police and fire personnel arriving on the scene. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Watkins was released on a $30,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 25. The University of South Carolina is aware of the situation and gathering information, but has not released a formal statement.
