Nine Super League Players Banned Including Hull FC's Jack Ashworth
Hull FC forward Jack Ashworth faces a potential six-match or longer ban after being charged with a Grade E striking offence for an incident involving Hull KR's Mikey Lewis during a derby match. The charge stems from Ashworth appearing to hit Lewis in the head with his forearm or elbow in the closing minutes of the game, an act described by Hull KR's coach as deliberate and unacceptable. If found guilty at the independent RFL tribunal, Ashworth could face a suspension for the rest of the season, a fine, and 36 penalty points added to his disciplinary record, effectively ending his season with Hull FC before his planned move to Castleford Tigers in 2026. The disciplinary panel also issued bans to other Hull FC players, including Jordan Rapana (two games), Amir Bourough, and Yusuf Aydin (one match each), while Salford's Loghan Lewis and Warrington's Luke Yates received season-ending bans. Catalans Dragons' Franck Maria faces a similar tribunal for head contact in their win over Salford. The disciplinary actions followed a particularly fractious derby clash marked by multiple incidents of dangerous play.
