Meta's Threads Adds Independent Content Filters

Meta has updated Threads to let users manage 'Hidden Words' filters independently from Instagram, ending the previous system where muting words on Threads also affected Instagram. Users can now block specific words, phrases, or emojis solely on Threads and apply or remove these filters in batches. Temporary filters that expire after 30 days have been introduced to help users avoid spoilers or trending topics without permanent blocks. The update brings Threads' content control features closer to those of competitors like X, which offers similar muting options. Threads has also launched its own direct messaging system, further establishing its independence from Instagram. These enhancements highlight Meta’s commitment to shaping Threads as a distinct platform focused on user experience and content customization.
