Renault to End F1 Engine Production in 2025

Renault will cease producing Formula One engines after the 2025 season, with Alpine set to use Mercedes power units from 2026. The engine factory at Viry-Chatillon will be transformed into a 'Hypertech Alpine' center, focusing on developing high-performance vehicles, battery technologies, and other motorsport programs. This move follows a period of poor performance and internal turmoil within Alpine, which currently ranks ninth in the Constructors' Championship. Despite employee protests, Alpine management confirmed the transition, ensuring that affected staff would be offered new positions within the Hypertech project. This change marks the end of nearly 50 years of Renault's direct involvement in F1 engine manufacturing.
