Two Kansas City Men Sentenced for Gun Thefts

Rayquan Pettaway, 25, and Roy Rushing, 27, have been sentenced for their involvement in stealing over 100 firearms from vehicles in Kansas City's Westport entertainment district. Pettaway received 11 years and 8 months, while Rushing was sentenced to 9 years and 2 months, both without the possibility of parole. They pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal possession and distribution of stolen firearms, which were sold on social media, including to individuals legally barred from owning guns. The thefts occurred between June 18 and November 19, 2021, and both men will serve their sentences consecutively to other unrelated convictions. They were also ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution. Other co-defendants in the case have already been sentenced, with one remaining defendant scheduled for sentencing soon.
