Texas Man Charged With Killing Father, Stepmother Arrested Playing Poker

Benjamin Frakes, 39, was arrested in Cypress, Texas, at a poker club on capital murder charges for allegedly killing his father, Franklin Frakes, 72, and stepmother, Florentina Frakes, 56, in their Spring home. The shooting occurred on May 15, but the bodies were discovered the following day by a concerned neighbor after hearing gunshots. Authorities believe Benjamin forced his way into the home and shot the couple, with Franklin attempting to defend himself and wounding Benjamin before succumbing to his injuries. At the time of arrest, Benjamin was found in possession of cocaine, Xanax, Oxycodone, other substances, and two firearms. The couple's black Mercedes SUV with Texas plates LPB-2783 is still missing and is believed to have been taken by Benjamin after the crime. Authorities continue to investigate and have requested anyone with information or contact with Frakes after the incident to reach out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
