Manchester approves tallest tower outside London, Viadux with Nobu hotel

Manchester is set to gain its tallest building, a 76-storey skyscraper named Nobu Manchester, which received planning approval in a recent meeting. The project, developed by Salboy, includes a total of 153 storeys across three structures, featuring 452 apartments and a luxury 160-room Nobu hotel, co-owned by actor Robert De Niro. The towers will be located near the Manchester Central convention centre, which initially opposed the plans due to concerns about reduced operational space but later resolved its objections through negotiations. However, Historic England raised concerns about the height of the tower potentially harming the city's historic buildings. Salboy's managing director emphasized the project's potential to symbolize Manchester's aspirations and reshape its skyline. The project is expected to enhance the city's identity on a global scale.
