Man Arrested in 2019 Mosque Arson Case

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an arson attack at Bevan House Mosque in Haverhill, UK, that occurred on November 10, 2019. The suspect was detained on January 31, 2024, after police identified new evidence, and he has been released on bail until April 27. The incident involved a forced entry through a smashed window, followed by a fire being deliberately set in one of the prayer rooms, damaging prayer mats and holy books, including a Quran. PC Jack Oakley, who responded to the scene, noted the significant damage and distress caused to the mosque community and emphasized the ongoing investigation, suggesting that multiple suspects may be involved. Authorities are appealing for any additional information related to the case. The fire did not result in any injuries, as confirmed by the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.
