Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced a high-level investigation into allegations made by LDF MLA P.V. Anvar against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M.R. Ajith Kumar, amidst significant political fallout. Anvar accused Kumar of criminal activities, including gold smuggling, and criticized the Chief Minister’s political secretary, P. Sasi, for ignoring red flags. The investigation will be led by State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb and a special team. Vijayan emphasized that the government will act based on facts and maintain discipline within the police force. Superintendent of Police S. Sujith Das has been suspended for disparaging comments about Kumar in a private conversation with Anvar, which were secretly recorded and broadcasted. Opposition parties have demanded further accountability from the government.
