Slows Bar BQ Expanding to Berkley This Fall

Slows Bar BQ, a popular Detroit-based barbecue restaurant, is celebrating its 20th anniversary by expanding into Berkley, Michigan. The new location will occupy the former Berkley Common space at 3087 12 Mile Rd, offering full-service dining, carry-out, and a private event space on the second floor. Slows Bar BQ's expansion is seen as a homecoming, as co-owner Josh Keillor has local ties to the area. This new venture marks another attempt to extend beyond Detroit, following previous expansions in Pontiac and Grand Rapids. The restaurant plans to open by late summer or early fall, and until then, a Slows food truck will serve the local community. Slows Holdings, which acquired the business in 2023, aims to build on the brand's reputation and community presence in Michigan.
