Tanzania to Honor Adani Ports Contracts Despite Allegations

Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to honour its contracts with Adani Ports, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, despite recent U.S. allegations of bribery and fraud against its chairman, Gautam Adani. A senior official from Tanzania's ports authority confirmed that the agreements, including a 30-year concession for Container Terminal 2 at Dar es Salaam, remain intact. This follows the indictment of Adani and his nephew for their alleged involvement in a $265 million bribery scheme in India. In contrast, Kenya has recently annulled contracts with Adani, including a significant deal for power transmission lines and airport developments. Meanwhile, the Kerala government has accelerated the Vizhinjam International Port Project through a supplementary concession agreement with Adani, aiming for completion by 2028. Overall, these developments highlight contrasting responses to the Adani Group's controversies across different regions.
