The Telangana High Court has directed the state legislature secretary to place the disqualification petitions against three Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs who joined Congress before the Assembly Speaker and secure a hearing schedule within four weeks. This directive follows multiple petitions from BRS legislators and a writ petition to the High Court after no action was taken by the Speaker’s office. Justice B Vijaysen Reddy emphasized the importance of adhering to the court’s order, warning that the court would reopen the petitions suo moto if the schedule is not provided. The disqualified MLAs in question are Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkat Rao. This case is part of a larger issue of political defections, with similar cases pending in other states, such as Goa and Assam.
