Actor Eric Dane Loses Right Arm Function After ALS Diagnosis

Eric Dane, known for his role on "Grey's Anatomy," has publicly shared a sobering update on his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Initially noticing weakness in his right hand about 18 months ago, Dane dismissed it as fatigue but was eventually diagnosed after extensive consultations with specialists. His right arm has completely stopped working, and he now has only one functioning arm, with a few months left before losing that as well; he is also concerned about losing the use of his legs. Dane recounted a heartbreaking moment on a recent boat trip when he realized he could no longer swim to safety, underscoring the disease's impact. Despite his diagnosis, he remains determined to spend time with his family, including his wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters, and continues to work as much as possible. Dane expressed anger over the disease’s toll on his life, especially considering his father died young, and emphasized that he does not see this as the end of his story.
