Azerbaijan, Slovakia Discuss Natural Gas Supply Amid EU Energy Talks

Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Energy, Orkhan Zeynalov, led a delegation at the inaugural meeting of the EU-Slovakia Working Group in Brussels to address Slovakia's gas supply issues. The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic role as a reliable partner in energy security, with commitments made to expand cooperation in natural gas and renewable energy. SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov showcased Azerbaijan's gas potential and the importance of developing necessary infrastructure. Concurrently, Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico is advocating for the transit of Azerbaijani gas through Ukraine as a solution to the disruptions caused by halted Russian supplies. Following Slovakia's challenges in gas transit operations, the EU leaders have emphasized alternative energy sources, including Azerbaijani gas, to stabilize prices and ensure competitiveness.
