Brothers Sentenced for Murder of Landlord in Chicago Sewer

Elijah and Tony Green were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for the 2018 murder of their landlord, Vasudeva Kethireddy, whose body was discovered in a sewer after he was reported missing for nearly two months. The brothers, who owed Kethireddy rent, lured him to their apartment under false pretenses concerning a roof leak, where Elijah Green strangled him to death. They subsequently stole over $1,600 in cash and used Kethireddy's credit cards before attempting to dispose of his body, which they kept in their car for a day before dumping it. Prosecutors revealed that a witness overheard the brothers planning the murder, and searches on Tony Green's phone indicated a premeditated intent to conceal the crime. Kethireddy, an immigrant from India, was remembered as a caring landlord who helped those in need. In total, Tony Green received a 47-year sentence, while Elijah Green was given 45 years in prison.
