Treorchy Teen Jailed Eight Years For Online Sexual Abuse Of 37 Girls

Cory Jones, a 19-year-old from Treorchy, was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to 69 sexual offences involving 37 girls aged 10 to 16, including blackmail, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and distributing indecent images. He manipulated victims on Snapchat, sometimes using an alias and lying about his age, gaining their trust before soliciting explicit photos and videos and resorting to blackmail when they refused further requests. Police found 172 indecent images of children on his phone, and Jones also sent sexual images of himself to victims. The judge highlighted the dangers of children having unsupervised social media access and noted Jones had been "corrupted" by pornography. Jones will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. Authorities emphasized the serious impact on victims, urged vigilance in protecting children online, and offered support resources for abuse survivors.
