Turkmenistan, Turkey finalize gas transit deal through Iran

Iran and Turkmenistan have agreed to enhance cooperation in energy and transportation sectors, as discussed in a phone call between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkmenistan's Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Both leaders expressed a commitment to collaboration in areas such as gas swaps and electricity exchange while emphasizing the importance of regional peace and friendship. Concurrently, Turkey and Turkmenistan have signed an agreement to facilitate the flow of Turkmen natural gas to Turkey, effective March 1, which will be transported via Iran's existing natural gas network. This deal is seen as a significant advancement in energy cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, Turkmenistan plans to construct a power transmission line from the Mary hydroelectric station to the Iranian border, further solidifying their energy collaboration.
