Mike Lynch inquest
An inquest into the tragic sinking of the superyacht Bayesian off the coast of Sicily, which resulted in the deaths of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah, and four others, began this week. The yacht sank during a storm on August 19, with authorities investigating the exact causes of death for the victims, including Lynch's likely drowning and suffocation due to oxygen deprivation. A recent ITV documentary highlighted the final moments before the yacht sank, including a photograph taken shortly before the incident showing that a hull door was closed, countering claims that it was left open by the crew. Prosecutors in Sicily are currently investigating three crew members as part of their inquiry into the disaster. The inquest for Lynch and others, including notable financier Jonathan Bloomer, has been adjourned until April 2024. The investigation continues to unfold as new evidence and testimonies emerge.
