Judge Benjamin Land Appointed to Georgia Supreme Court

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has appointed Judge Benjamin A. Land to the Georgia Supreme Court, filling the vacancy left by former Chief Justice Michael Boggs’ retirement. Land brings nearly thirty years of legal experience, including 26 years in private practice focused on complex civil litigation and nationwide class action defense. He previously served on the Georgia Court of Appeals and as a Superior Court judge. Land is recognized for his fairness, impartiality, and pro bono advocacy, having received the State Bar of Georgia's William B. Spann Jr. Award. A University of Georgia graduate who finished second in his law school class, Land has also been active in professional and civic organizations. His judicial career has included high-profile rulings on 2020 election interference cases, potentially affecting his participation in related Supreme Court deliberations.
