Carli Lloyd Among 2025 National Soccer Hall of Fame Inductees

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 finalists, featuring notable names such as Sterling Sharpe and Mike Holmgren, alongside a controversial nominee, former Chiefs left tackle John Tyrer. Despite being a six-time All-Pro and a key player in the AFL during the 1960s, Tyrer's nomination is contentious due to his involvement in a murder-suicide in 1980, which his family attributes to potential CTE resulting from his NFL career. On the soccer front, Carli Lloyd, Chris Armas, Mary Harvey, Nick Rimando, and Mark Abbott were elected to the U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame, with Lloyd receiving an impressive 97.9% of votes in her first year of eligibility. Lloyd, a two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist, is celebrated for her pivotal role in U.S. women's soccer history. Rimando, also a prominent figure in American soccer, played 553 MLS games and earned multiple championships. The induction ceremonies for both halls of fame will take place in 2025.
