Mercedes unveils W16 car for post-Hamilton era with Russell, Antonelli

Mercedes unveiled their new W16 car in a digital launch, marking a fresh start for the team as they enter the 2025 season without seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has joined Ferrari. Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli, 18, replaces Hamilton alongside George Russell, who is set for his seventh season. Team principal Toto Wolff expressed excitement for this new era and highlighted the team's focus on improving performance after finishing fourth last year. Technical director James Allison noted that while significant gains in lap time are challenging due to stable regulations, they have concentrated on addressing last year's weaknesses, particularly in corner handling and tire temperature balance. The season begins in Australia on March 16, with Mercedes aiming to return to their championship-winning form. Additionally, Mercedes plans to expand into the Middle Eastern market with a collaboration with Qiddiya Investment Company, aiming to establish a World of Performance center by 2030.
